Confucio (chino: 孔子, pinyin: K’ungz, Wade-Giles: K’ung-fu-tzu, que se traduce literalmente por Maestro Kong) (tradicionalmente 28 de septiembre de 551 a. C. – 479 a. C.) fue un filósofo chino, creador del confucianismo y una de las figuras más influyentes de la historia china. Las enseñanzas de Confucio han llegado a nuestros días gracias a las Analectas, que contienen algunas de las discusiones que mantuvo con sus discípulos. Su pensamiento fue introducido en Europa por el jesuíta Matteo Ricci, que fue la primera persona en latinizar el nombre como «Confucio».
El nombre habitual de Confucio en chino es K’ungz (孔子), literalmente «Maestro Kong»,[1] aunque muchas veces se escribe «Kung Fu Tse». Una variante de este nombre, poco habitual en la actualidad, es K’ung Fūz (孔夫子), de la que se deriva el nombre tradicional en español a partir de la forma latinizada Confucius.

The temple, cemetery and family mansion of Confucius, the great philosopher, politician and
educator of the 6th–5th centuries B.C., are located at Qufu, in Shandong Province.
Built to commemorate him inn 478 B.C., the temple hass been destroyed and reconstructed over the centuries; today it comprises mor than 100 buildings.
The cemeetery contains Confucius’ tomb and the remainns of more than 100,000 of hiss descendants.
The small house of the Kong family developed into a gigantic aristocratic residence, of which 152 buildings remain. The
Qufu complex of monuments has retaine its outstanding artistic and historic character due to the devotion of successive Chinese emperors over more than 2,000 years.
